Exciting New School Release: the 2022 LDR Shiraz

We are extremely excited to announce the release of a brand new Dalwhinnie Single Vineyard wine: the 2022 LDR Shiraz.

This is an exciting, modern take on Pyrenees Shiraz, with warm spice, star anise, bright raspberries and an ethereal minerality. With a members price of $46.00, this is an incredible value, new release wine.

Fruit was sourced from the original 'The Eagle' Vineyard on the Dalwhinnie estate in the heart of the Pyrenees. This high-altitude site is well suited to the production of complex Shiraz and Chief Winemaker Julian Langworthy wanted to celebrate the beauty of this single vineyard with a unique, new school expression of this varietal.

The Shiraz underwent wild fermentation (40% whole bunches) with native yeasts, before being pressed to older, large format oak for 12 months' maturation. This simplistic, hands-off winemaking has ensured the LDR Shiraz is a true 'nouveau' expression of The Eagle Shiraz; a bright, fresh and modern take on this iconic Dalwhinnie wine.

As Julian states: "This is simplistic winemaking yet far from a simplistic wine."

Award-winning shiraz

1 Trophy, 2 Gold Medals

Upon its release, the 2022 LDR Shiraz is leaving a trail of Trophies and Gold Medals in its blaze at national shows across Australia, including winning the Trophy for Best Shiraz at the Perth Royal Wine Awards.

"The LDR Shiraz is an exciting wine and to have won a trophy on its release speaks to the immense quality of the Dalwhinnie 'The Eagle' vineyard site. Whilst this is a contemporary, new look wine, this award is recognition that we have maintained the traditions of the iconic, award-winning Dalwhinnie wines," says Julian.
